Welcome back to the Arcana: A Legacy! Last time, Generation 1 heir, Affinity Arcana, went to university to search for men, found the one she wanted, and came home.
That was about it.
Now that we're home again, it's time to invite Affinity's beloved over so we can get things rolling.
Since he's an elder now, I'm more inclined to let Mat do whatever he wants. I have a lot of pictures of him just freaking out over nothing.
Mat: Nothing? I'm OLD.
Distinguished!
The last of the snow is gone, but the gnome and the creepy deathman remain.
Who will win?!
(One'o'wands, obviously, he doesn't melt)
See?
I don't even remember why I was taking these.
Mat: BOO GEN-ONE SUUUUUCKS BOOOOOOOO!
Jealous much?
Uselessly dark self portrait? Complete!
I have a lot of hate for the portraits in this game.
This appears to be... Susannah? Lost near a dock? I have no idea what this is o.O
That's not good for your ears, One-oh.
Maybe that picture up there was Susannah catching a lizard, and this is the picture of it escaping and attacking Octokitty?
I took a lot of weird pictures this time.
Such as.
5/6 Fish - Still Living!
Mat was feeling sad about his eldering, so Susannah reenacted the first time they met.
Alchemy: Level 9.
Charisma: Level 9.
Painting: Level 9.
Exciting household is exciting.
I thought Su won, because she stopped reading. Turns out you have to actually talk to people or something before it's topped.
Thank goodness Leonard is here!
Affinity: Just in time!
We would have done this before, but school wouldn't let us. Lame.
I don't like making the girl propose =/
Have I mentioned any of his traits? One of them is neurotic.
Affinity is cooking because I couldn't figure out how to make Leo do it.
She must have given up, though, because it's still there.
Mat and Leo: Rock on!
Leo: I hate your brains.
Mat: >:|
Llama: Mmm, cheesey...
This is supposed to show how well Mat and Leo don't get along, but I'm more entertained by the background.
Mat: My brains are cooler than yours will ever be, son.
Leo: :|
Llama: How does this work with hooves?
That'll help.
Affinity: Ignoring them both.
Hey look, a wedding!
Everyone ran wildly back and forth across the beach the whole time trying to escape the hail and rain. I have great timing.
And then I couldn't figure out how to use the arch.
Affinity: You want to just get married here since our simmer is dumb?
Inappropriate-bathing-suit-dancing-man from Snowflake Day is back, this time as inappropriate-sun-bathing-in-the-rain/hail-man.
Affinity: Um, what was I do doing here?
Lol, I don't know anymore.
Yet somehow, they pulled it off.
...Mostly. Thanks Su!
Artisan came home at exactly the moment they were married. I'm not sure why? It's not time for him to age up quite yet. He WAS invited to the party, so maybe that's it?
And then the newly married couple teleported to the lawn.
Since they're on the curb anyway...
I build them a house. Isn't it lovely (from this angle)?
If you're interested in this sort of thing, that's the nursery in all white, then the purple study below it. Stairwell to the right, then the traditional living/dining/kitchen combo.
Upstairs, Gray bedroom/Green bathroom for Mat and Su. Purple bedroom/Orange bathroom for Affi and Leo. Artisan is stuck in the black/pink room in back.
Except I ran out of money so there's no furniture.
Also, I had originally planned to go for a cleaner, less eye-scraping style, but that died as soon as I realized their favorite colors were violet and orange.
Those are not clean, subtle colors.
Someday I will build a good house.
THIS is a picture from the house we will move to someday. It's taken me many hours to build as much as this, and it's way more expensive than we can currently afford, but someday, the Arcana's will live here. Just to prove that I DO know how to build a house.
Back at the wedding, which the newly weds are currently sprinting their way back to, it has finally stopped raining, but it hasn't improved much.
Everyone is starving, despite the lovely buffet I set out.
So the Arcanas are the only ones who figure out how to eat. They don't seem very excited about it, though.
And it's raining again.
Is this even worth it?
The second the knife lightly brushes the cake, the guests flock forward to grab their piece, so the answer was no.
Affinity, honey, this isn't any smarter than when your mother was doing it.
Affinity: Just hiding my face.
=/
And then they were gone. Thank goodness.
Beach Wedding? Over. Never to happen again.
Unrendered Horse: OMNOMNOM
Back to pictures I'm not sure why I took!
All right, the wedding might have been a bust, but the happy couple still get to have their fun.
Never mind the jagged red need bubble there...
(I just learned that never mind is two words)
Consummation: Success!
Meanwhile, the bookshop had a discount running, so Su bought him all the Alchemy recipes you apparently can't learn at the bench.
Leo's first act as the official Gen 1 Spouse, minus woohooing the heir, is to make sure the new house doesn't flood.
For wedding presents, Mat sent them a Nexus backdrop which takes me back to my WoWing days, and Su got them a guitar shaped like a cupcake.
Affinity already has two guitars, but neither one is shaped like baked goods, so well done Su.
Please don't think about your daddy while I find out you're pregnant.
Since Leonard is a Natural Cook - WAIT I FORGOT
(Minor spoiler here - Leonard's original LTW was to become Leader of the Free World, but Su's already doing that one, so I change it once he has enough reward points. I rolled a die to choose from the options he came up with)
Since Leonard is a Natural Cook, he takes over the bulk of the cooking duties. Unfortunately, his favorite food is PB&J, so don't expect a lot of gourmet meals this generation.
I'm not sure if Affinity doesn't like her painting, or her mom's plans for world-leading via spices, or her brother's formal wear/ski cap, or what.
Affinity: Person person minus minus - why is that dork still living here?
He's still a teen!
Affinity maxes her painting skill in peace.
Just in time!
Hey, remember Artisan? I finally did! This is the love interest he met at prom.
I did not write his name down.
He's an adult now.
Arti: Crap.
I buy Affinity a super expensive holographic floating computer for some reason, and she begins her writing career.
Artisan: So in conclusion, bedroom camouflage is a serious deterrent to the bed-living mons-
Artisan: Hey, are you listening?
Still insane.
And this relationship is probably not going to work.
I try to register Affinity as a self-employed writer, but pregnant women can't hold jobs, silly.
Artisan: Yay, I'm growing up!
And now you're leaving!
Artisan FINALLY grows some hair, but it's too late!
Bye!
Writing is stressful, so we turn back to painting for the fun/money.
Meanwhile, Leo begins making use of his Green Thumb skill by tending the garden Mat hasn't touched since before he was married.
One'o'Wands: Boo! Gen-one suuuuucks!
Shut up!
EVERYONE had a wish for this, so fine, I give in.
I think you're supposed to have a hill or something, but whatever. Have fun bruising yourselves.
What's up, Mat?
Mat: Topped my career. Completed my LTW.
Way to look cheerful about things.
He maxes his Alchemy skill a few moments later.
And then retires later that night at a party held on Artisan's new house-boat, cheered on by both his sons.
Poor guy. He's actually pretty cute. I would have liked having you as heir, Artisan.
Affinity's first book, based on the Arcanas' first gnome, sells pretty well!
92 pages doesn't strike me as heart-pounding adrenaline, but what do I know.
Doo-de-doo. My how time flies.
Mat: So tired...
Affinity: Hey dad? I think I might be-
Affinity: Yep! Definitely in labor!
Mat: Sigh.
Affinity: Help, please!
I take this moment to be impressed by her ability to wear heels throughout the pregnancy.
Affinity: HALP
Mat: How does this go... oh right... ::PANIC!::
Mat: Yes, I'm free to chat.
Affinity: WAT
Leo: Can't wait to hit that new bed undisturbed!
Hah.
It's a girl!
Welcome baby Sage!
Sage loves the heat and is a light sleeper, so a net zero on traits.
She's an Aquarius, likes Indie music, hot dogs, and Irish green.
It's gone four AM by the time the new baby settles in - why is Su still up?
Su: I just woke up.
I forget how old people work sometimes.
But grandmas make the best caretakers :)
'Til next time!
Too-da-Lu!
