0.14 Teenagers

Welcome back to the Arcana:  A Legacy!  Lulu here!  Last time, we said goodbye to first-born Knack Arcana, went Trick-or-Treating, and had a few roaring parties.

This time, we start things off on a Saturday morning, as the parents leave in a hurry.

Mat:  FREE VACATION!  Go, go, before the children spot us!

Indeed!  Nothing suspicious about this at all!

(They actually had this opportunity when Knack was a teenager as well, but Affi was still a baby, so I declined)

Affinity finishes her latest painting just as the parents leave.  What will we do now?!

Autonomous skilling, of course.

Artisan does take a break to call up his girl Rhonda, though!

Artisan wishes for more wishes.

That's kind of awesome.  I like this effect.

I don't know what difference that made, but it was what he wished to wish for.  He still has three wishes.

Rhonda is not particularly impressed with Arti's impassioned speech about the benefits of always wearing athletic wear.

Sunday morning - I'm not sure why Affinity's make-up gets like that outside of her everyday wear.  What will we do today, kids?

Homework, of course.

How much homework do you have, boy?  He's been doing it all weekend.

Affinity paints while Artisan gets his first rebellious wish - to get an allergy shot.

But he's still grounded so it involves sneaking out!

Very slick, Arti - your parents will surely never notice you (because they're not in town).

Shot - acquired!

Then he goes for an outerwear swim in the ocean, which lets him join the ...penguin club or something.  I don't know.  Swimming in the snow sounds dumb.

Back home, Affinity did manage one little act of mischief.

Artisan:  My eyebrows :(

Inept:  What is WRONG with these kids?!

Luckily, Artisan's grounding ends just in time for prom!  Affinity attends in her outerwear...

And Arti in his swimwear.

Even though he's not grounded anymore, he sneaks out to the limo.  Odd.

Affinity is prom Queen, and gets into a couple of fights!

Artisan becomes prom King (with his sister, yuck), gets in one fight, and finds love.

A boyfriend, in fact.

Welcome to heirdom, Affinity!

Certainly made my choice easy.

She won't officially become heir until she ages up, though, so we're still in Gen 0.

Affinity:  Time to build myself a new home!

We'll get to that, I promise.

Artisan is still sneaking around, and I'm still calling him Knack.  It's probably a good thing he didn't become heir.

This thing is strange, and expensive, then it grew bigger (and more expensive).  And it makes noises and glows on and off, and shoots out sparkles every hour or so.

I like it.  It's our centerpiece now.

And Affinity heads back to painting as the parents come home.  What exciting children you two are.

Mat heads straight to the backyard to build a snowman.

While Artisan gets in trouble.

But why?!  It says for sneaking out, but how could she possibly know that?

Artisan is forced to stand in timeout.  What.

Mat, father of the year, turns blue.

Then Arti gets in trouble AGAIN for breaking time out, but he didn't!  He only moved when it was over, I WAS WATCHING.

He is stinky, tired, and starving.  Arti's gonna die in this corner.  :|

Finally, we beg for forgiveness.

Artisan:  Plllease can you forgive me for doing that thing I didn't actually do (that you know of)?

Su:  Aww, okay.  I can see you're really sorry.

Whew.

Yet he's still sneaking around.

I do some reading and find that one of the ways to fix this is to send your kid to boarding school.  Su has a wish to send him to Prep school, so we sign him up.  It worked out well for Affinity.

Oh, look.  It's a snow day.  Remember those?

The bus actually comes for Affinity anyway, I'm not sure why.  I don't send her, though, because she hasn't had a snow day yet.

Artisan:  World peace!

Still awesome.

I'm not sure what World Peace does either, but he wished to wish for it.

It sure is sparkly.

World secure, Arti sneaks off to Prep school.

See, it's bigger now.

It doesn't really fit on the table now, so I put it on the dresser.

Portrait of Mat.  I'm not sure why he looks so scary.

I'm also not sure how to get good portraits.  Can't use camera mode, lame.

I empty Mat's inventory into an alchemy cabinet, but I'm still not very happy with it.  He is slowly building up a nice stock of some pretty interesting potions.

Well, at least you're not green?

We got this picture in the mail, but I could have sworn it was blue.  Weird.

Second portrait of Mat is quite dark.  Bleh.

...

I'm on to you.

Today is Snowflake Day!  Since Knack is gone, Mat makes the obligatory 50 snow angels while Su sets up the gift-giving party.

Things are a bit of a mess inside, so instead of making Su do all the cleaning, the family comes together for once and helps out.

Party time!  I'll try to spare you a million pictures this time, since I've done it before.

The parents continue to get mistletoe for some reason, but Affinity got a guitar!

And then... another guitar!

Someone must have heard she's ignoring her virtuoso trait.

Everyone but Su ignores the innapropriate-dancing-swimtrunks-guy during the gift-opening.

Ooh, a game system!  She's been wanting one for ages, but we still don't have a TV.  Or a living area.

And somehow, we acquired a gnome!

I name him One'o'Wands, because I'm running out of naming themes.

While Su dances with an old man, Mat dances with... me!  ^.^

But there's another gift-giving day surprise set for Su and Mat.

Minus the clothes (which I never change her out of), Susannah grows up fairly well!

Mat looks a little more aged, but not bad!

They still find one another attractive.

Mat is old hat at handling his unstable trait.

Hmm, looks kind of familiar, Affi.

You're probably going to see a lot of pictures of Affinity painting.  Sorry!

I like this one.  It goes on the wall.

One'o'Wands takes out the competition.

One of Knack's fish died :(

We've been feeding them everyday, I swear!

Party time!  Su needs some more cash for her campaign (they both want to retire, but they're not quite to the top of their careers yet).

This lady spends the entire party sobbing uncontrollably over her dead husband while this fairy-man makes hitherto unnoticed inappropriate sparkles at her.

I hate to be mean to a widow, but her sobbing finally gets to me, and we send her home early.

Affinity agrees to put on her formal wear before painting during the party.

I wouldn't paint in white pants, but that's me.

She's painting a portrait of the random cat who decided to attend the fundraiser.

Random cat shows its appreciation by attacking Octokitty!  No!  Bad cat!

Mat's not happy with Su...

...because she's hitting on a younger, fairier man.  Bad Su!

(luckily there's too much traffic to let Mat get to her, so no fighting breaks out)

I've been letting these parties go autonomously the whole time, and this is the first time Su actually does something inappropriate.  Not bad, I guess.  Maybe she's getting confused in her old age?

Affi stops painting that night.  What's up?

That's right!  It's Affinity's birthday!

We're finally going to start Generation 1!

Su's cheering in the background, but where's Mat?

Mat:  This is what birthdays mean to me now.

o.o

Affinity:  Here I go!

::tension!::

Affinity:  WHAT AM I WEARING?!

Quick, fade to black!

Bam.

'Til next time!

Too-da-Lu!
