Welcome back to the Arcana: A Legacy!
Last time.... things happened? /rereads
Right! Last time, Affinity married her college sweetheart in the rain. Artisan came home from Prep School and then moved out. We rebuilt the house, Mat achieved his LTW, and Affinity gave birth to the first of Generation 2 - Sage Arcana!
This time, more things happen!
Like Mat and Su not getting along.
Actually, they never really do. I think I posted before that they're marriage is mostly due to just ignoring each other. Most times, they don't even have enough relationship to woohoo.
Leo and Affinity make-out and woohoo so often that I've pretty much stopped taking pictures of it.
Meanwhile, I mentioned last time that I changed Leo's lifetime wish to one that involves making Nectar.
....so I cheated a little. Gah, I'm sorry! I really don't like cheating, but I'm not sure my computer can handle travel right now. It has a rough time running the regular neighborhood. I did still have to pay a bundle to get this, but I know it's not the same as going to France to get it.
Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to travel. But I'd rather not try until I'm ready.
Susannah has an opportunity to make friends with the local law, so I sent her over to meet Devin (probably) here. I had her use an Irresistible Greet, which I probably should have realized was a flirt, but oh well. Devin's ...son? Lover? got kinda pissed off, but what can you do.
This guy was also upset, but much later. If these aren't his kids, what kind of house is he running here?
I can't tell teens from adults unless they're standing next to each other.
Friendship complete. Now get out of the rain!
When Mat isn't wandering around being angry at the world, he's down in our badly decorated basement, mixing up interesting potions for generations to come!
Glowing is the best kind of liquid. And totally safe!
Now that Affinity isn't pregnant anymore, she's finally allowed to get a job!
Even though she's an awesome artist, she registers as a self-employed writer, because that's what she'll be doing mostly.
I take the time to send her to the festival to enjoy her time out. She picks flowers!
And gets a sweet little kiss.
Don't worry, bathing-suit Su can take care of Sage, no problem!
This is the first time I've trusted my Sims to take care of a baby autonomously. It works out really well, mostly thanks to Su!
Um. I'm pretty sure this is Affinity's new career outfit, but I can't figure out how to change it. She usually changes into this after woohoo.
Leo doesn't completely ignore Sage!
Leo: Where's the baby?!
Leo: There's the baby!
Aww. Their wittle hands <3
Leo: Now to brush my teeth a hundred times.
Su: Hmm... I sense someone has put the baby down.
Su: Can't let that happen.
Su: Your daddy doesn't know how to take care of you!
Looks like a burrito you're about to eat, Su.
Su: Hey!
Mat: My baby.
And then he won't put her down.
Mat: These are the fish, Sage. They were caught by my son. We must protect them.
His Unstable trait makes him kind of weird, especially since I've stopped treating it unless he wishes for it.
Affinity was pretty miffed to find that pregnant women aren't allowed on water slides, so now that she's free, she gets in some good slides in between writing sessions.
It raises her fun pretty well, too! So I guess I don't completely hate this thing.
Leo's gardening skill is coming along, so he starts making a few small additions to Mat's original lettuce-filled garden.
He works while entertained by his mother-in-law's cupcake-played Nexus-inspired jams.
Su is pretty much set on her career, and just has to throw a couple campaign fund-raisers from here on out to reach the top of her career.
Leo: /blankstare
...
...was this the one I was supposed to use for your card? Sorry, I already used another one.
Leo: Sigh.
Take careful note, because this is the last time Leo will interact with his first-born for quite some time.
Remember those fund-raisers I mentioned?
Time for one of them now! She must have gotten promoted!
Su: Hey, officer Devin! Give me some money?
Devin: Don't I give you money for just attending?
You can double-tap by asking them individually, because they'll still give you money at the end. I don't want to have to do this twice.
It does take me awhile to figure out her donations reset every time she's promoted.
Mat: Why aren't my children here?
Aww...
I did invite them, but they just got arrived, turned around, and got right back in their cars. Look, Arti even wore his formal wear!
Artisan: How can I attend my parents' party while I'm so inappropriately dressed?
Artisan: How can I attend my parents' party while I'm so inappropriately dressed?
Officer Devin entertains the girls. They don't look very impressed.
It's also Sage's birthday! Leo tries to take her to the cake, until Susannah decides its her job.
And thanks to that confusion, we never make it to the cake. Good job, guys.
I know tossing caused problems, but it seems wrong to just set them on the ground and wander off.
We did it!
If you've forgotten, Sage is a Light Sleeper who Loves Heat. Combine that with being a toddler, and she's pretty much completely boring.
But cute!
The woman on the left is Su's best friend, Carolina. Remember the rich castle-living lady? They've been friends for ever.
After she left, we got this :(
(Looking back, this is the wrong woman, because Carolina attends a party later... whoops? ...It's still sad)
(Looking back, this is the wrong woman, because Carolina attends a party later... whoops? ...It's still sad)
But life goes on, and Sage has things to be taught, even if she's not happy about it.
Affinity: Aww, don't worry, sweetie, mommy won't make you if you're not ready.
Aww...
Everyone else has gone to bed, but a couple guests refuse to leave.
It's almost 5 am at this point.
And the final guest doesn't leave until after sunrise.
Rei: Man, I am exhausted.
Yeah, no kidding.
The garden is getting bigger, so Mat helps out.
And with Affinity taking care of Sage, even Su agrees to help!
Things go much smoother this time.
Affinity rewards her daughter with some of her jams, but Sage is too young to appreciate how awesome Affi is.
This is another case of everyone-wanted-it-so-I-gave-in.
Su can't resist having a new object to upgrade.
Su could do this, y'know.
Affinity: Nope, we're good!
Yay for good moms!
Mat: Oh, you're skilling? I was just leaving.
Mat and Leo are still awkward.
Mat decides to take up beekeeping right outside the nursery window instead.
Walking accomplished. Affi's not making much money, but she's a good mommy.
Su: I keep coming in here to check, but she doesn't need anything.
Leo: I knew it.
Maybe if you hadn't washed your hands 80 times just previous to this, it wouldn't have broken.
Su pretty much upgrades everything. She wants to.
There was one more recipe Mat never learned. This is him learning it and mastering Alchemy.
Affinity: Dad's kind of crazy.
Eccentric.
Affinity: Really?
Love you, Affi <3
One'o'Wands spends the rest of the summer and fall staring at the wall in the stairwell.
Leo is not supposed to be in this bathroom, but here he is anyway.
Sage: MOMMY!
She's gotta sleep sometimes, kid.
(notice the bees)
Sage: :(
Don't worry. She's still a good mommy.
Affinity: I feel accomplished.
And so pretty.
We finally get some apples, so yay, our first batch of nectar!
It cannot be easy to stomp apples into juice, but Leo seems to enjoy it.
Mmm, foot goo.
Pull the lever, spin the wheel. I'm sure this makes nectar somehow.
Ta-dah!
Arcana Apple Sampler 1 is truly terrible, and worth $4.
But whatever, it's
Mmm, bee goo.
Leo: I hate this thing!
But I like it! Mat wanted it, so he gets it.
It's apparently super loud, though.
The garden keeps growing, so Mat an Su are back to helping out.
I don't know what I would do without them. They are nearing the edge of their elder bubble though... :(
Life can't be all work.
Leo: /whistles
Affinity: What?
I'm kind of willing to accept this as a post woohoo outf- wait did I forget to raise the walls? Gross.
Affinity serenades her husband.
...while he sleeps.
Leo: Gah.
She's just getting you back.
For this.
Meanwhile, my Simself gets herself put on the political hit list.
Su only needs one promotion. And her age bar is quite full...
Simself minds her own business.
Esse: Oh, look! It's my good friend Su! This should be fun.
Nope.
I was going to write captions for these.
But it's kind of sad to write insults about yourself :(
Mat supples Su with a handy potion.
Broken glass and fizzy gas...
And success. Enemies.
I didn't mind it at the time, but looking at it like this made me sad :(
Su: Yep, I did it! I know I'm guaranteed a promotion now, but let's party anyway!
This is surprisingly the first time the party got jammed at the door.
So we have a door party.
It's Sage's birthday again, but with the jam at the door...
We once again fail to make it to the cake.
Sage: This sucks.
Cakes aren't everything.
Sage: I rolled Hates the Outdoors.
Boring child is boring.
It's okay, I never liked kids anyway. Esse has a dislikes children trait.
Arti came and actually stayed this time! He doesn't look pleased with his childhood home.
Artisan: It's not that. It's her.
Sage: Whatever, loser.
Don't point fingers, hon. If you don't roll an interesting trait, you're probably going to be a spare.
Knack came too.
Hi Knack!
Ilu <3
'Til next time!
Too-da-Lu!
